Mettant à l'honneur la communauté Anishnaabeg, ce récit parle de la différence et l'acceptation de soi, alors que le jeune protagoniste déclare à sa mère et à son frère qu'il est gai. Sa mère lui explique qu'il porte en lui une grande richesse - un esprit fille et un esprit garçon - que l'on nomme "Niizh Manidoowag" dans sa culture. On aborde ici le concept de bispiritualité qui est propre à la communauté LGBTQ+ autochtone, de même que l'importance d'être accepté tel que l'on est par ses proches. Le tout est mis en images par des peintures de synthèse expressives dans lesquelles les teintes de rose et de pourpre sont à l'honneur. [SDM] |
